About Me

Me in Central Park, NYC
Samantha Jolanda

My name is Samantha and I'm currently a student in university! I only have about a semester left until I graduate with an Honours B.A. with Double Major in Second Language Teaching (FSL) and Geography. I've always been interested in the world around me as well as communicating with the people who live in it. . . and because of this I plan on learning new languages and teaching languages as well as teaching about the world around us while traveling in it. I am debating going back to school for a 1 year intensive program of tourism but that is still up in the air.

When my mind isn't stressing over assignments and exams (and even sometimes when it is), my mind is wandering in the skies about new places to see and visit. I don't think I can go a day without reading about a new place, updating my bucket list of places to see, or researching a new city full of culture I must experience.

I would love to say I would explore my own country first but in such a vast country as Canada is, it is actually cheaper for me to visit Europe than it is to see the West Coast. I know the nature that Canada has is astonishing but in addition to being a nature/geography lover, I am a culture and history buff and to be frank, Canada's history is not nearly as interesting and old as most of Europe's. For this reason, I thrive when in Europe and try to visit as many UNESCO World Heritage Sights as possible, as well as small towns to experience the culture of the locals!

My travel adventures (thus far) include:
Canada (6 provinces), USA (18 states), Dominican Republic, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Denmark, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

My travel plans for the next year (financial situation pending) are:
France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Andorra, Croatia, Montenegro, Romania, Italy, Vatican City and hopefully more :)
